I’ve been mulling over an idea that’s been growing in my mind for a while now. What if I held a painting holiday on Flinders Island in 2027 and who would be interested. Just off the coast of Tasmania, Flinders Island is known for its stunning natural beauty. It’s a place where photographers, artists, and writers from all over the world come to find fresh inspiration and creativity. So I’m excited to share what I’m thinking about and invite you to find out more about a 7-day retreat that could be just the creative boost you need.

Why Flinders Island Is Perfect for a Painting Holiday

Flinders Island is a gem tucked away in Bass Strait. It’s not just the island’s natural beauty that draws creative souls, but also its peaceful atmosphere. The island’s landscapes range from wild beaches and granite mountains to lush forests and open plains. This variety means there’s always something new to paint or sketch.

The island’s light is something special too. Many artists say the quality of light on Flinders Island helps them see colours and shapes differently. It’s a place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and really connect with your art.

For anyone who loves nature and wants to recharge their creative batteries, Flinders Island offers a unique setting. It’s remote enough to feel like a true escape but still welcoming and easy to explore.

What a 7-Day Painting Retreat Will Look Like

Each day, we begin our adventure with a delightful breakfast in the comfort of our own accommodation. After enjoying our breakfast were ready for the day ahead, our dedicated transport service arrives promptly to pick us up. This convenient arrangement ensures that we can fully immerse ourselves in the artistic experience without the stress of navigating unfamiliar roads.

Once abord, we set off on a picturesque journey to our thoughtfully chosen painting spot for the day. The variety of landscapes we visit is genuinely astounding, from the striking cliffs of Killiecrankie Bay, where the rough terrain encounters the crashing waves in a magnificent show of nature's might, to the calm and peaceful shores of Trousers Point. Each of our daily locations have been researched or suggested to us by locals and other art groups that have recently visited.

We break for lunch then in the afternoons, we may plan group sessions where we share techniques, tips, and feedback or you may want to do a bit more painting.

Evenings might be spent relaxing, sharing stories, or simply watching the sunset over the ocean. Keep in mind that this trip is not guided; it is simply an opportunity to share knowledge and enjoy painting with other artists.

Also its my goal to create a supportive, inspiring environment where we can grow our skills and enjoy the process of making art from beginners to more experiences painters.

Flights and Accommodation

For this retreat, we've selected four of the island's top accommodation cottages. Each participant will have their own room while sharing the amenities of our delightful cottages. The group size for this trip is capped at 10 people.

Transportation on the island is fully covered, as we will be renting a minibus and an additional vehicle to travel to our destination daily.

Breifly, flights to the island are not part of our estimated price and depart directly from Melbourne's Essendon Airport or from Launceston. Approximate cost for a group booking is $750 return. Once we know the numbers a group booking will be made.
