About

My Creative Journey

enhanced_image.jpeg
Thanks for stopping by my website! I'm thrilled to celebrate nearly 15 years of running creative workshops in Queensland with some of Australia's most exceptional tutors.

This adventure started in Mt Tamborine under the name Wisteria Cottage Fine Art Workshops, inspired by the beautiful English Wisteria vine growing outside my first real studio, which could accommodate 12 people at a squeeze.

Also, it was my passion to learn oils and acrylics from the best tutors available in Australia, as I had already studied pastels and watercolour whilst living down the Gold Coast for many years.

Sadly, after many years on the mountain and nearly two hundred workshops later, our family decided to move closer to the sea for health reasons. So, nearly five years ago, our family took the huge leap and moved the studio and our home to the beautiful Moreton Bay Region of Qld.

We still offer our small boutique art workshops, engaging the best tutors covering most mediums to share their skills with us.

Also, more recently, my focus has been on providing weekly tutoring or hosting one of our regular art retreats with a great artist and friend of some 20 years, Tricia Taylor, who is a great all-around artist and Master Pastellist.

My truncated story:
I have been involved in the arts for over thirty years, and have held exhibitions of my art over the last fifteen. This all began with my love of creativity taking hold at an early age, as I studied commercial art at East Sydney Technical College, which lit the flame.  After a few years of art-making, I redirected my creative urges toward photography, exploring the world through a lens for many years as a commercial photographer, driven by the need to support a young family.

I also have a business background in management consulting, wealth creation and stockbroking.

I retired early from the corporate scene, so returned to my first love and passion of creating some twenty odd years ago.  Thankfully, I still have an intense itch to paint that has now become my life.

I love sharing my knowledge and struggles that I went through, teaching oils and acrylics to weekly students, as well as mentoring those who attend our retreats.

Primarily, I am a landscape artist who also loves seascapes, the outback, and nature.

Please feel free to explore my work on my website Gallery, and if you have a commission that you would like painted, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

I am proudly  represented by the Seaview Artists Gallery at Moffat Beach - Sunshine Coast.

A complete Bio and Artist's Statement are available by request.

Happy painting, and thanks for stopping by

Ron
