Herman is a terrific, inspirational artist who requires little to no introduction. He is always willing to share his vast knowledge on how to improve your paintings, by adding what he calls the X factor to your design and have a chat. As an oil painter myself over the past nine years since Herman has been visiting us I always pick up new ideas, how to break the rules, and to improve my paintings.

He is always willing to share his vast knowledge on how to improve your paintings, by adding what he calls the X factor to your design and have a chat. As an oil painter myself over the past nine years since Herman has been visiting us I always pick up new ideas, how to break the rules, and to improve my paintings.

In this workshop, you will learn about board/canvas preparation, design and composition of your subjects, and how to paint freely with a limited range of brushes and colours. Also, how to get light and atmosphere into your paintings, which is Herman's trademark specialty.

Small class of 10 in a fantastic studio at the Bribie Arts Centre, which has its own Cafe for lunches...


Accommodation is available through a shared Airbnb that we hire for the workshops. Your own room, fully stocked kitchen for your lunches or dinners and within 10 minutes of the Studio. Prices usually work out around $130 to $150 per night, depending on the accommodation we choose. Please contact me for more information.
